A member of a local Public Schools Board of Education has proposed that Christian cemeteries be repurposed as dog parks, allowing animals to urinate on graves of white people.

The comments from Chauntyll Allen, who also co-founded Black Lives Matter Twin Cities, surfaced during discussions about closing the Minnehaha Off-Leash Dog Park in Minneapolis. City officials there plan to shut down the park by year's end to safeguard what they describe as sacred Dakota land, potentially containing unmarked burial sites tied to historical events like the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862.

Allen reportedly stated: “I don’t get why we don’t just make dog parks at White Christian cemeteries if white Christians are ok with it? This is a simple fix. Leave indigenous land sacred and piss on the white corpses.”

Allen’s statement comes as she faces federal felony charges related to a January incident in which protesters, including members of an anti-ICE demonstration, entered Cities Church in St. Paul during a worship service. Video from the event showed demonstrators chanting and confronting churchgoers, with some urging attendees to “join the black church.”

Federal authorities arrested Allen and activist Nekima Levy Armstrong in connection with the church invasion. Charges include conspiracy to deprive rights. Allen maintains ties to local progressive figures, including Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

State Rep. Elliott Engen (R-Lino Lakes) criticized the direction of Twin Cities school boards, describing them as increasingly activist-oriented rather than focused on education. He highlighted curriculum shifts toward topics like comprehensive sex education, ethnic studies, and queer theory, and called for Allen’s removal from her position following her arrest.

Critics argue such rhetoric from elected officials undermines community trust and respect for religious traditions. Supporters of the dog park closure emphasize indigenous rights and historical sensitivity.
