34 States (2/3rds of 50) is the number of applications required to call an Article 5 Convention... since 1982 it has been known that more than the 34 required applications are on file with Congress. The US Constitution doesn't mention how long an application for a Convention remains valid. There are over 450 open applications, submitted by 41 States, currently on file with Congress. Until these applications are recalled they remain valid. Petitions are not case-sensitive. They don't need to refer to a specific proposed amendment or request a convention be called for a specific CONSTITUTIONAL requirement to be a valid application. Applications remain constitutionally valid until withdrawn by the State making the application.
There are over 450 petitions/applications pending most filed years ago but never repealed... as a result, 41 states have open petitions for a convention. Congress is ignoring its duty to CALL the convention. The States should act on their constitutional right to convene the Convention, listing the open applications before Congress and the States with open applications. Then proceed. Let Congress sue to stop the convention... If they dare. The evidence to support a convention is straightforward.
"Brennan style application counts
Thomas E. Brennan holds that, in 1982, it was necessary, desirable, and feasible to hold a convention.[6] He lists the following counts in the introduction to his claim:
- 450 applications through 1980, plus 25 more since 1980, gives 475 total applications.
- Applications from every state in the union (Hawaii's expired and did not call for a convention, 8 states have rescinded all applications, leaving 41).
- 36 states with more than six or more separate applications (Ten of those have since rescinded all or most of their applications, and five are not identified in the table above, but several states have five applications listed here)." Quote from Wikipedia at the link below.
I posted on this issue several times... providing multiple links to authoritative lists of the open applications in the Congressional registry calling for the Convention... As usual, Congress is lying and openly ignoring their duty to call the convention, and the states are doing nothing about it... nothing new here. The current Congress doesn't want an Article V convention as they know it could result in them all wearing ORANGE... or worse.

"Congress is ignoring its duty to CALL the convention."
They should not have the power to pick and choose....it should be up to the people!
Exactly, so when a member of Congress says it's up to the states... refer them to this article and tell them it is their duty to call the convention, and lying about it is not becoming for a US Representative... ask them to resign. The States need to notify Congress that they are convening an article 5 Convention and then do it.
Seems no interest in an Article 5 Convention... one way to remove the current usurper holding the Office of President and the US Senators falsely installed as members of the Senate. The people get the government they permit to operate... no one else will act for them ... they must act or live with the results of their inaction.
P/S... Emal your Reps in Congress and ask them to submit a resolution calling for an Article 5 Convention based on the existing open applications for one.
