That isn't even close to what neo-liberal democrats have done to this country. Anyway, someone should tell Sullivan that his view is literally the profile of the average Trump voter and literally the Trump 2024 campaign platform and literally the domestic governing philosophy of Trump’s 2nd term.
But Sullivan said what he finds most “disgusting” about Trump, presumably making the president unsupportable, is that he: “introduced an indecency into our public culture that is new and hideous; the celebration of cruelty; the denigration of your opponents. … That kind of stuff, we’ve never heard from a president before.” You know what else is hideous, cruel, and the denigration of your opponents, beside calling them facists, nazis, racists, homophobes, xenophobes, etc, etc, etc? Suing them and charging them for ridiculous, false crimes? Shooting them in front of a live audience.
For neo-liberals, the superficial narrative is always that Trump is gratuitously wicked, vicious, and vengeful. They’re offended by everything he does without ever considering why he does it or what about it might actually appeal to voters. Our brutal politics didn’t start with Trump. The left-wing and their media excelled at it long before him. Just ask Mitt Romney, George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, and every Republican of the last century. To a person the media called them racist, stupid, hateful, mocked their religious convictions, accused them of hating women and ethnic minorities. Trump and his supporters go through the same thing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Yeah, the president said things we’ve never heard from a president, and it was about damn time. All the while, left-wing/democrats were untouched and righteous because the neo-liberal and their media were always rooting for them.
Let’s not forget how it started. The genesis of Trump’s much-discussed “bullying” was that he called out not left-wing/democrats but other Republicans for their weaknesses. He called the successor of the Bush dynasty “low energy.” He called his now-secretary of state “little.” He called his final remaining 2016 primary opponent “Lyin’ Ted.” Oh, how that tickled the left-wing media. They loved every second of it. But then Trump became the nominee, and his target was a left-wing/democrat. Only then was the entirety of the left-wing media devoted to destroying him, doing to him what was done to every Republican before. That treatment continued into his 1st term, with the added bonus of a national intelligence operation by the left-wing media and our own government to convince the public that a foreign adversary had installed our president. Then the pandemic. Then the race riots. Then the lawfare. Then the assassination attempt.
But if only the left-wing/democrat Party, animated by resentment and an irrepressible need to crush the American middle class, would end “wokeness,” stop trying to trangenderize children, and come up with an “affordability agenda,” by golly, it would be a hit. Why hasn’t anyone tried it before?
Meanwhile, a category of insurance risk that hardly existed a little over a decade ago has morphed into a meaningful source of losses for the industry. Claims tied to SRCC — strikes, riots and civil commotion — are emerging as a growing headache for insurers as episodes of unrest increasingly lead to the destruction of property in Western democracies. Howden Re estimates that insured losses related to SRCC soared from negligible levels in 2013 to more than $8 billion between 2020 and 2024. SRCC losses are prone to huge swings between years, with single events often changing the landscape significantly. After relatively few claims globally in 2025, Howden Re told it’s now expecting the US to see a clear increase in SRCC losses this year.
Meanwhile, kathryn ruemmler, the BObama lawyer who vetted cabinet members and oversaw his ethics department, was epstein's good friend after his conviction for sexual predation of minors; she flirted with epstein, accepted lavish gifts from him, and served unofficially as his lawyer. She has “resigned” from an extremely lucrative position at Goldman Sachs.
