An alleged Indianapolis serial rapist — already facing 30 charges — is now facing five more charges after DNA evidence links him to yet another sexual assault.

An alleged Indianapolis serial rapist — already facing 30 charges — is now facing five more charges after DNA evidence links him to yet another sexual assault.
Leonel Catalan-Torreblanca was charged today with:
- Criminal deviate conduct, Class A felony
- Burglary resulting in injury, Class A felony
- Criminal confinement, Class C felony
- Strangulation, Class D felony
- Intimidation Class D felonyHe now faces a total of 35 charges. The prosecutor's office tells us these new charges stem from a 2012 sexual assault.
Torreblanca, who is in the country illegally, is believed to be responsible for a string of home break-ins and sexual assaults on the north side of Indianapolis between 2012 and 2024.
A DNA sample collected by immigration officials earlier this year help link him to the unmatched samples.
In all, investigators say Catalan Torreblanca's DNA came back as a match to at least five sexual assault investigations:
- May 2012: Oakbrook Road, near 62nd and Georgetown
- March 2013: Ashton Brook Apartments
- June 2015: Ashton Brook Apartments
- September 2016: Carlyle Court Apartments
- October 2016: 9000 Block of Guilford Avenue
- January 2024: The Lodge at Trails Edge ApartmentsHe's been in jail ever since his arrest in April.
