  • As a former college educator, standing in line as an adjunct to print my syllabi for students. Other adjuncts were talking about the President of the College's demand to increase overall scores. (to make him look good and the college look good to the Mayor, etc.)  The faculty talking about it were all Psychology, the largest single department on campus. Their solution to make sure they fulfilled the President's directive, was to simply adjust the grading scale downward. Easy peasy. That's what they did. Students came in unprepared, undiscipled, lazy, ignorant of life and worse. Addicted to their phones, etc. Parents are just as much to blame as schools. Education begins at home.
