's campaign and we finally figured out the connection.RLJ Lodging Trust.
It's a publicly traded hotel real estate investment trust founded by Johnson, owning upscale hotels across the country under brands like Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt.
Baby Birch's father, Evan Bayh, sits on Robert Johnson's RLJ Lodging Trust board, collecting $250,754 in 2025.
He's been a trustee since 2011, chairs the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and serves on the Compensation Committee.
And that's not his only corporate gig. Bayh also serves on the boards of Marathon Petroleum and Fifth Third Bank.
RLJ's own board skills matrix identifies Evan Bayh as having experience in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), corporate governance, global business, government and regulatory affairs, investment and finance.
$400,000 in campaign donations.
$250,754 in board compensation.
Multiple corporate board seats.
A father-son political connection. But I'm sure none of this has anything to do with the other. Just a big coincidence that the money, corporate connections and political dynasties all seem to run in the same circles.
Welcome to the Bayh family business.
Where public service and corporate boardrooms apparently go hand in hand.
