Democrats' lead continues to shrink as the midterm election nears and the party holds just a 2 percent advantage over Republicans – and Joe Biden isn't boosting the polling as his approval also slips.
Forty-five percent of registered voters polled told Politico/Morning Consult that they would vote for Democrats in the 2022 midterms compared to the 43 percent who said they would vote for Republicans – up 2 percent from last week.
The tiny gap between the parties falls right within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
The remaining 12 percent of respondents say they don't know or have no opinion on which party emerges victorious in November.
Biden's approval is also shown as slipping among registered voters with just 40 days until Election Day.
The week of September 18, the president had a 46 percent overall approval compared to his 5 percent drop to 41 percent in the most recent poll conducted this week.
