The US has pledged another $713million for Ukraine as two top Biden officials visited Kyiv under the cover of darkness where they blasted Russia's 'failing' invasion.
In the highest-level meeting between the US and Ukraine since the war, Antony Blinken and Lloyd Austin took a train from Poland to Kyiv where they met with Volodymyr Zelensky in an overnight trip shrouded by secrecy.
There, the officials pledged military financing to Ukraine and its NATO partners and said diplomats would start returning to the country this week, although they will be stationed in Lviv rather than the Kyiv embassy which remains closed.
At the meeting, Blinken said, 'Russia is failing, Ukraine is succeeding,' and praised Zelensky and his country's bravery in the face of Kremlin barbarism.
Speaking today in Poland near the Ukrainian border, the Secretary of State said: 'We had an opportunity to demonstrate directly our strong ongoing support for the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian people. This was, in our judgment, an important moment to be there to have face-to-face conversations in detail.'
Austin added Zelensky's response to the aid was deep appreciation for what was being given but 'he has the mindset that they want to win and we have the mindset that we want to help them win'.
Journalists who travelled to Poland with Austin and Blinken were barred from reporting on the trip until it ended, were not allowed to accompany them on their overland journey into Ukraine, and were prohibited from specifying where in south-east Poland they waited for the Cabinet members to return, citing security concerns.

The aid should not be a GIFT ... it should be a LOAN with repayment scheduled over 5-10 yrs at the end of the conflict... NO MORE GIVING OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE TO FOREIGN CORRUPTION AND WARS. Ukraine has huge oil and natural gas reserves from which to repay our loans. The military aide should also be a loan and repaid... direct and indirect aide included.
I agree Col. and our Country's current financial predicament i.e., the Budget as well should be fully funded and if debt must be taken out, it must be paid off before new debt is taken on. However, there are several problems, one being the dinosaurs at all levels of Government some for 50+ years. They in essence have created a lucrative $$$$$$$$$$ cash cow dynasty and keep "Kicking the Can down the Road". It's fortunate for us though, as they are rapidly reaching the end of natural life, well... except Pelosi (She's pickled in Vodka). So, our task will be putting an end to "Cradle to Grave" Politicians via Term Limits and selecting Balanced budget New Kids!
How about paying Congress only from a budget that is balanced... has no borrowing of any kind. If Congress fails to balance the budget ... including monies for their salaries... they get no pay or only a pro-rata share of revenues that exceed the dollars needed to fund the government's budget. Watch how quickly the government's budget becomes a leading example of responsible government financing.
An even better idea Col.! The only real task Congress has is pass a budget and thats just once per year. Yet something that they fail to do every year no matter what political party is in power! Could any of us imagine how our "Bosses" would react if in giving us the same one task per year to complete... and we don't?
The Ukraine is getting more money from Joe and we pay the bill, screw them
The monies used by the allies to finance much of WW-2 and Europe's recovery after the war was fronted by the US... through the 'Lend-Lease Program' and 'Marshall Plan'... THE MOINES WERE PROVIDED IN THE FORM OF LOANS and were repaid with interest. Ukraine has large oil and natural gas reserves sufficient to repay any monies given to them for weapons, munitions, or other war materials... must be a LOAN, repayable once the conflict ends.
Humanitarian aid should primarily be given by private non-profit charitable groups and USAID... budgeted and funded as grants... from monies appropriated annually for such relief and when the money is gone so is the relief. Taking the taxpayer's wealth and giving it to others should not be done without Congressional approval and debate... Presidents should not be permitted to have access to a blank check for such programs and statutory law should keep our government from borrowing money or printing currency to fund such philanthropy... America simply doesn't have the money for such programs without taking it from our children and grandchildren's pockets.
You are right, let Putin take back all the countries the Soviets controlled, he's already attacking Moldova now too, so it's just a matter of time.
Then let china take ove Taiwan, and frankly any other country they want, screw them too! Let two communists countries with huge populations control most of the world, screw the world......
The military industrial complex, like big pharma is getting richer and devildemocommiecrats are getting their kickbacks while We the People are getting fleeced!!!!!!!!!!
I look forward to the day when Donald J. Trump is back in the White House to make America great again. Next time he will also make sure that he will win in 2028 and onwards. We the people support the only honest person in politics no matter what. This is America, not some s...hole country.
