Their analysis found that more patients are suddenly being coded as “medically complex”, which is apparently allowing hospitals to bill at higher reimbursement levels!
The problem is that BCBS is saying it found “no evidence of corresponding change in care delivered.”
In other words: the coding got more expensive. The care apparently didn’t.
More than $650 MILLION of the additional costs were tied to secondary diagnoses identified in patient records.
Americans already need a small business loan and three prayers to open a hospital bill.
