Chicago weekend violence has least at least 55 people shot, five fatally, since 6 p.m. on Friday, police said.
Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown will hold a morning press conference Monday as the violence soars all across the city.
The latest shooting took place minutes before midnight in the 3100-block of South Lake Shore Drive. Someone fired shots from a passing car hitting another car. That driver lost control and crashed into a tree. Police said no one was injured.
Also Sunday night, an 11-year-old girl was shot in the back in the West Pullman neighborhood around 9 p.m. Witnesses told police they saw someone shooting from a passing car. The girl is now in serious condition.
Just two hours earlier, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the 10000-block of South Evans Avenue in Burnside. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
And the Chicago shooting attracting national attention occurred at about 4 a.m. Sunday when at least eight people were wounded around after someone fired into a crowd at a party in the 8900-block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Burnside.
Six men and two women are among the injured, more than half are in serious to critical condition.
"There were a lot of people and a lot of shooting, so they did not know where to run or where to hide," said Street Pastor Donovan Price.
