A presenter on military-owned Myawaddy TV made the announcement and cited a section of the military-drafted constitution that allows the military to take control in times of national emergency. He said the reason for takeover was in part due to the government's failure to act on the military's claims of voter fraud in last November's election and its failure to postpone the election because of the coronavirus crisis.
The announcement follows days of concern about the threat of a military coup – and military denials – and came on the morning the country's new Parliament session was to begin.
The detention of the politicians and cuts in communication services on Monday were the first signals that plans to seize power were in motion. Phone and internet access to Naypyitaw was lost and Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy party could not be reached.

The sad thing is that the US is a banana republic just like Myanmar is. We can't trust our elections, either, and our only hope is a military intervention at this point.

The same thing needs take place here and extend beyond the halls of Congress and the White House. It should also target the liberal media, the George Soroses, big tech free speech killing social medial, those who want to deprogram conservatives and our children, and finally, the Communist educators who are poisoning the minds of of our youth. Otherwise, our precious America is doomed.
Could it happen here? I think it could. But my question would be which way would the military lean - towards the constitution or towards the President who is their Commander-in-Chief. Maybe one of our ex-military people could verify this, but I believe the oath states they enlistee will suport and protect the Constitution but obey the orders of the President. I think that might create a dichotomy in the minds of many military people. Do they follow the law, or follow the orders of the President (who in this case was most likely fraudulent and who has governed so far against the Constitution).

The oath is to obey LAWFUL orders and most of what the satanist devildemocommiecrats order violate the Constitution therefore are UNLAWFUL
The oath says the military shall defend the country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Therefore it will take fair minded patriotic military leaders to make the right decision.
Military officers must know the US Constitution and are bound to act within it... all orders must be lawful (Constitutional) not just statutory or directed by superiors... their orders must be lawful... including the Presidents. Of course, any failure to obey a lawful order would or could result in courts-martial and serious penalties up to and including capital punishment if serious enough. Therefore, all officers are very keen to obey all LAWFUL orders and where they believe they are unlawful to solicit counsel if possible before refusing the order... they would also request clarification of the order to avoid any misunderstanding regarding the order. It is often advisable to suggest an alternative order to the senior officer that could bring about the outcome he wants without the problem of being unlawful.
Thank you Col Nelson for the clarification. That is what I thought, but not having been in the military I wanted clarification. My primary concern is that some of the military would chose to follow an illegal order by the President. Which I am fear Biden might do - he certainly does not seem to care about the constitution or the law. Isn't it strange how the Democrats only want to use the Constitution or the law if it is convenient for them.
