Arizona Superior Court ordered the University of Arizona (UA) to release emails by university researchers tied to the Climategate email scandal. The Climategate emails showed researchers at universities around the world discussed suppressing data raising questions about the evidence used to support the claim humans are causing climate change, and pressured science journals not to publish articles by climate realists.

 

-Whether it's man-made global warming, mass starvation, resource depletion or overpopulation, the environmental crowd's predictions seldom are correct, and often seem hysterical, and the public has grown increasingly indifferent to them.

 

-The US is already reducing emissions faster than any other nation in the world, and we are doing so without a tax on carbon dioxide. Public opinion polls show American voters continue to rank addressing global warming among their lowest priorities. 

 

-Swiss geologist Christian Schluchter reports. Schluchter, professor emeritus of geology at Switzerland’s University of Bern, discovered remnants of trees in the Alps showing the forest line was much higher than today for stretches of thousands of years during recent history. Schluchter observes the findings show temperatures

-A UN-affiliated global warming conference called for abolishing capitalism on a global scale, claiming individual economic freedom is responsible for an impending global warming crisis.- The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) agreed to a declaration praising former Venezuelan despot Hugo Chavez, while his country imploded from his policies.

 -Vermont Superior Court ordered the Vermont Attorney General’s office to pay $66,000 in legal fees for costs they incurred undertaking a lawsuit to force the AG’s office to turn over public legal documents related to Vermont’s dealings with disgraced former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s lawsuit against several oil companies. The lawsuit in question attempts to coerce major oil companies into paying for the states’ purported costs from climate change. E&E Legal and FMELC had requested the documents under Vermont’s freedom of information laws, but the AG refused to turn them over.. 

-Billionaire activist Tom Steyer, using his fortune to attack political candidates who are global warming skeptics, made much of his fortune bankrolling coal projects. Steyer’s capital management firm, Farallon Capital Management, invested billions of dollars in coal projects in Southeast Asia and Australia. After making his fortune through coal investments, Steyer promises to punish political candidates who support coal or are skeptical of global warming alarmism. Meanwhile Hollywood environmental activists Ed Begley Jr., Mariel Hemingway, and Josh Tickell were caught on camera agreeing to accept $9 million to film an anti-fracking film to help a supposed Saudi oil magnate end American energy independence.

-A report by NASA physicist Edward Long analyzed the temperature record of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN), a temperature data set from 7,280 meteorological stations around the world. Examining both the unadjusted and adjusted average temperature data, Long notes a number of problems or instances of bias. As a result of these problems, NOAA reports more warming than has actually been observed and a steeper warming trend than has been experienced. When adjusting the data, NOAA lowers temperature values from measuring stations in the earlier temperature record and adjusts upwards more recent temperature measurements. Another problem is NOAA’s tendency to ignore or discount errors introduced by source data discontinuity. 

- Medieval Warm Period (MWP). Climate models don’t reproduce the MWP and what factors contributed to the MWP at a time when carbon dioxide levels were much lower than at present.

-Global temperatures were warming much more slowly than claimed by British and US government agencies that produce temperature data reports, according to data compiled by the Japanese Meteorological Agency. NASA, NOAA, and the Met make adjustments to real-world temperature data that have the effect of inflating recent temperature readings and reducing the temperatures that were reported several decades ago. By contrast, the Japanese scientists give more weight to real-world data than to government agency adjustments that always seem to add more warming than appears in the raw temperature data. The Japanese data add weight to global temperature readings compiled by NASA satellite instruments. NASA satellite instruments show substantially less recent warming than is claimed by global warming alarmists and government agencies that adjust the real-world temperature readings. Because the NASA satellite instruments uniformly measure global temperatures, the temperature readings do not require any adjustments to weed out asserted temperature anomalies.

-Climate models that predict a future global warming crisis do not accurately reflect climate during the past century, scientists report in the peer-reviewed Journal of Geophysical Research Atmospheres. The models fail to account for the effects of aerosols and have a relatively large positive forcing and overestimate the observed temperature change.

-A majority of the senior scientists responsible for producing the US Global Change Research Program’s draft report are affiliated with environmental activist groups. Their group' report (USGCRP) engaged in extreme misrepresentation. Given the strength of the science on this subject, the USGCRP must have gone to some effort to mischaracterize it by 180 degrees.

-Politicization of climate science is the pursuit of increased government control of the economy and dangerous to the poor by ending the use of fossil fuels. 

-Record-setting warm temperatures in the US during 2012 were mostly the result of natural weather events and had little connection with global warming, a team of scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Colorado report in a new peer-reviewed paper. “This long-term regional warming is an order-of-magnitude smaller than temperature anomalies observed during the event, indicating that most of the extreme warmth must be explained by other factors. Several lines of evidence strongly implicate natural variations as the primary cause for the extreme event,” the scientists explained.

-There has been no recent increase in global temperature volatility, a team of scientists including disgraced Climategate central figure Phil Jones acknowledge in a published peer-reviewed study. The scientists report temperature volatility has increased in some regions and decreased in others. While the media focuses on regions where volatility has increased, the planet as a whole is experiencing no increase in temperature volatility. Moreover, the study predicted temperature volatility will decrease during the course of the twenty-first century.

-The warmest temperatures of the present interglacial warm period, which began approximately 10,000 years ago, occurred between 4,000 and 6,000 years ago, scientists report in a new peer-reviewed study. Scientists examined sediment composition in several lakes near the edge of the Greenland ice sheet and discovered local summer temperatures were 2 to 3 degrees Celsius warmer during that time period than they are today.

-Meteorologist Anthony Watts pointed out on his Watts Up With That Web site that U.S. cold temperature records have outnumbered warm temperature records, some  by a 10–1 ratio, over the past few years .

-Global warming activist groups receive millions of dollars each year in untraceable “dark money” while global warming activists frequently claim outside money motivates global warming skeptics, groups such as the Center for American Progress and Sierra Club rake in millions of dollars from dark sources, totally eclipsing skeptic funding sources.

 

-For the past several hundred million years the Earth’s built-in feedback system against climate change has served to keep global temperatures within acceptable limits to life, regardless of many strong temperature perturbations introduced by outside forces. Runaway man-made global-warming is a hoax designed to obtain political power. Rule over the environment and you rule over much of human action. Portray change as bad, make any potential claim of change and you can require any law or regulation to suppress freedom. 

-Global warming activists increasingly target young schoolchildren with propaganda designed to turn the younger generation into global warming activists. Steven Goddard puts the issue in context, publishing a global temperature chart since the year 2001 and noting, Elementary School Children Have Only Experienced Global Cooling.

-The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) confirmed that 2016 was the hottest year on record. Of course, the Earth has been on a slow warming trend since the end of the last ice age 10,000 years ago — one of many glacial periods in earth's history.  So the notion that temperatures are slowly increasing — assuming they are — shouldn't be news. The problem is those "records" — NOAA scientists have been fudging the numbers. In 2015, NOAA's Thomas Karl — trying to disprove evidence that global temperatures had plateaued for perhaps 15 years — released a report saying that the agency revisited past ground and sea-level temperature data. According to the study authors, "Here we present an updated global surface temperature analysis that reveals that global trends are higher than reported by the IPCC, especially in recent decades." What they did was adjust both land- and sea-based temperature readings up to prove that temperatures had been rising all along. Shortly after the report, a former NOAA climate scientist, John Bates, blew the whistle: "Gradually, in the months after (the report) came out, the evidence kept mounting that Tom Karl constantly had his 'thumb on the scale' — in the documentation, scientific choices, and release of data sets.” Temperatures may be rising, but how would we know when scientists change them to validate their predictions?

 

-The amount of government money flowing to organizations, agencies, universities, and scientists who toe the party line about humans causing catastrophic climate change, calling for an expansion of BIG government and ever greater control over peoples’ lives, dwarves the amount of money climate realists have received from all sources. Since global warming first hit the headlines, more federal money has gone to climate scientists and groups promoting climate fears than had gone to climatology and meteorology cumulatively in the prior century. If we fairly use the liberal standard, then university and government scientists, bureaucrats, and regulators are overstating their certainty about human-caused climate change and its risks just to keep billions of dollars flowing to their coffers. Climate realists acknowledge the climate is changing and always has changed, just as temperatures have always fluctuated. Realists simply raise questions about how confident we should be concerning claims humans are responsible for the recent warming. Realists point out the warming has paused for more than 20 years, despite ever-rising carbon dioxide levels. Sea levels have risen more than 400 feet since the end of the most recent ice age, but they are rising at a slower rate now than they have for the vast majority of that time, and rates of recent sea level rise haven’t accelerated despite climate alarmists’ claims.  Antarctic sea ice and snow and ice cover are growing, polar bears are thriving, Atlantic hurricanes are at near record lows for frequency and strength, instances of drought and flood are within historic norms, plant coverage is expanding, with crop yields setting records year over year, and fewer lives are being lost to climate-related events than ever before. All of these facts contradict the projections made by climate models and the claims state AGs are making in support of their witch-hunt. If climate alarmists have nothing to offer in defense of their views than misguided attacks on climate realists based on who funded some of their work more than a decade ago, their position is weaker and even less worthy of serious consideration than thought.

 

-Climate scientist Judith Curry, retiring from her position as professor at the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology, citing growing “craziness,” hostility, and intolerance from colleagues who disagree with her moderate position on climate change. Curry has derided climate alarmists’ extreme claims linking climate change to catastrophic harms to Earth and humanity. Curry’s research indicates natural forces play a larger role in the climate system than is acknowledged by climate models. She says the policies enacted by BObama will have little effect on climate.

 

-Former NASA astronauts and scientist, former Apollo pilot physicist Walt Cunningham said the climate change industry is a “political movement disguised as science” that will soon fizzle out as facts accumulate to such a degree the scientific community, media, and politicians will be unable to ignore evidence that climate change is largely natural and unalarming.

-Aaron Mair, president of the Sierra Club, testified the science linking human actions to dangerous global warming “is settled, ... it’s not up for scientific debate.” In an exchange for which Mair clearly seemed unprepared, Cruz asked why, if humans are warming the planet, satellite date at the time showed no planetary warming in the past 18 years. Mair seemed unfamiliar with that fact. When pressed by Cruz to say whether he would retract his statement about the science being settled if data proving the warming pause were provided to him, Mair remained silent. Cruz said, “You know, Mr. Mair, I find it striking that for a policy organization that purports to focus exclusively on environmental issues, that you are not willing to tell this committee that you would issue a retraction if your testimony is objectively false under scientific data.”

 

-Michael Bastasch wrote in The Daily Caller climate alarmists have been predicting a so-called “tipping point” – a point beyond which catastrophic climate change is inevitable regardless of what actions people take to prevent it – for over 30 years. All have come and gone with nary a dangerous irreversible trend in sight.

 

- Global warming activists who produce temperature reports for government agencies, however, typically add substantial warming to the temperatures recently measured by thermometers at U.S. and global temperature stations, so don’t expect government officials to acknowledge the cooling temperatures throughout the nation.

 

-Media outlets breathlessly claimed global warming caused open seas at the North Pole this week as a result of melting ice. University of Washington scientists, however, pointed out the “open sea” shown in photographs taken by cameras at a buoy near the North Pole was actually a surface pond of ice melt on top of the Arctic ice sheet. Surface ponds of ice melt are common during summer on the Arctic ice sheet, and University of Washington scientists said the pond was likely no more than two feet deep on the surface of the ice cap.

- Global warming alarmist heidi cullen claimed warm water caused the Category 5 typhoon that struck the Philippines in the recent past. Objective water temperature data, in other words---the facts---however, show nothing unusual about surface water temperatures in the typhoon’s storm track. cullen’s claim continues a practice of blaming extreme weather events on global warming even when objective data contradict such claims.

 

-Raw data from surface temperature stations showed, in the recent past, that  U. summer temperatures are in long-term decline since the 1930s. Government employees at the National Climatic Data Center, however, added approximately 1 degree Celsius to recent temperature readings to give the impression of unprecedented summer heat.

 

-Islands in the vicinity of Tuvalu are growing rather than sinking as the planet warms, scientists report in the peer-reviewed Sustainability Science. “Despite the widely held perception that reef islands around the perimeter of coral atolls are eroding and will disappear as a consequence of sea-level rise resulting from global warming, this study shows that the total area of reef islands on Tarawa Atoll has increased over recent decades,” the scientists report.

-Climate scientists Patrick Michaels and Chip Knappenberger published an article documenting the near-universal disconnect between climate models and real-world temperature trends. After charting computer model predictions versus real-world temperatures, the scientists observed, “Less than 2.5% of model runs show that global warming is really global lukewarming to the degree that real-world observations indicate.”

-The year 2013 went into the record books as a year with relatively few extreme weather events affecting the US, the SI Organization reports. Examining tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, and extreme heat, the SI Organization documented unusually low incidences in all four extreme weather categories in 2013. The SI Organization works closely with several government agencies on weather-related projects, including NASA, NOAA, and Naval Meteorological and Oceanographic Command.

 

-5 of the 6 snowiest Northern Hemisphere winters have occurred since the year 2000 when global warming alarmists claimed an imminent end to winter snow, as documented on the Real Science web site.

 

-algore lied AGAIN claiming “every national academy of sciences in the world” agrees with his global warming alarmism. In reality, at the time many national academies have taken no position on global warming. Many others are silent on the existence of an asserted crisis. Still others have explicitly cast doubt on global warming alarmism, pointing out substantial scientific disagreement with global warming alarmism, and two surveys of American Meteorological Society meteorologists produced similar results. algore, who has made millions and millions on carbon offset trades again repeatedly argued for a carbon tax, that he would directly make more millions form, during his Climate Reality Project marathon. 

-Biodiversity is expanding as our planet warms, according to an article in the peer-reviewed journalNature.

 

-4 scientists at the forefront of global warming activism published an open letter encouraging their fellow warmists to embrace safe nuclear power as a means of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The 4 scientists are James Hansen at the Columbia University Earth Institute, Tom Wigley at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Kerry Emanuel at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Ken Caldeira at the Carnegie Institution

 

-The Daily Caller published a very good summary of the many ways in which real-world climate is defying alarmist predictions in the wake of rising CO2 emissions. If carbon dioxide emissions are the primary driver of dangerous climate change, why are temperatures flat and extreme weather events less frequent and severe as CO2 levels continue to rise? The Daily Caller article, “Greenhouse gas levels reach record highs, nothing happens,” presents excellent information and citations giving context and answers to that question.

 

-Penn State climate scientist Michael Mann cherry-picked data to produce a historical temperature reconstruction that made the Medieval Warm Period disappear and showed a steep rise in temperature in the latter half of the twentieth century—producing the now infamous ‘hockey stick” reconstruction of temperature. Mann’s taxpayer-funded research was used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to support its claim Earth is warming unnaturally due to human greenhouse gas emissions and has been cited by hundreds of peer-reviewed articles. The British Columbia Supreme Court required Mann to provide his disputed data and computer code for examination. Mann refused to turn over the data.

 

- Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore told the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works there is no scientific evidence that humans are the primary cause of recent global warming. Moore also noted global warming is occurring at a modest pace and does not seriously threaten human welfare regardless of its cause.

- Researchers compared Global Average Surface Temperature (GAST) records reported by NOAA, NASA, and Hadley against the best documented surface data sets from the United States and elsewhere as well as global data from satellites and weather balloons. They found, “the three GAST data sets are not a valid representation of reality. Nearly all of the warming they are now showing [is] in the man-made adjustments.” The study finds the much-hyped reported temperature rise in the latter half of the 20th century is largely if not entirely due to biased adjustments made by the agencies charged with recording, receiving, and collating global surface temperature records. If the GAST data are flawed we cannot trust reports claiming Earth has experienced record-setting warming in recent years.

 

-The “pause” in global warming was longer than the period of warming that preceded it. Even more troubling for man-made global warming zealots, “one-third of all CO2 added to the atmosphere since the industrial revolution occurring during this period,” yet temperatures have not risen at all.

 

-Global warming alarmists showed their hate for real science by engaging in name-calling and seeking to censor Charles Krauthammer after he authored a laundry list of flaws in the alarmist global warming narrative. Krauthammer surgically debunked a long list of asserted global warming harms, challenging global warming activists to be more honest with the American people and called on alarmists to respect the scientific method and counter skeptical scientists with scientific evidence rather than personal attacks. As if to validate Krauthammer, alarmists immediately responded to Krauthammer’s scientific arguments and support of scientific debate with shrill personal attacks and calls for censorship. Time magazine senior Jeffrey Kluger published an article repeatedly calling Krauthammer an “unfrozen caveman,” even while Kluger failed to present any scientific evidence to challenge Krauthammer. Other global warming activists piled on the personal attacks, and prominent alarmist Brad Johnson claimed to have collected over 100,000 signatures from people calling on the Washington Post to censor global warming skeptics.

 

-Global warming alarmism is padding insurers’ profits, according to Warren Buffett, whose Berkshire Hathaway company owns several insurance and reinsurance companies. Buffett reported to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders that global warming is not causing an increase in insurance industry payouts for weather-related events. Buffett acknowledged in a later television interview that insurers are nevertheless using global warming to justify rate increases. 

-People who consider themselves environmentalists have a larger-than-average carbon footprint The CEO of a company that produces an app to track people’s carbon dioxide emissions reports environmentalists “like to think of themselves as multicultural” and therefore take frequent long-distance flights to foreign nations. These long-distance flights emit more carbon dioxide “than a conservative guy who drives an SUV in the suburbs of Atlanta but doesn’t fly anywhere.”

-Media coverage of a peer-reviewed report casting severe doubt on alarmist global warming predictions has stopped in its tracks momentum sought by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The report is Climate Change Reconsidered II: Biological Impacts. Climate scientists S. Fred Singer and Craig Idso presented Biological Impacts to members of Congress, public policy organizations, and the news media in Washington, DC. They believe alarmist statements are demonstrably false and point to observable data, not to hypothetical computer modeling, to prove their point. The NIPCC findings come on the heels of the IPCC’s much-ballyhooed warnings to farmers and other food producers that were contained in a report the biased U.N. agency released, containing a predetermined result and amplified through alarmism.

-Methane emissions are essentially irrelevant as a greenhouse gas because water vapor already absorbs the same infrared radiation that would be absorbed by methane. Both of its bands occur at wavelengths where H2O is already absorbing substantially. Hence, any radiation that CH4 might absorb has already been absorbed by H2O. The ratio of the percentages of water to methane is such that the effects of CH4 are completely masked by H2O. The amount of CH4 must increase 100-fold to make it comparable to H2O.

-The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (ABM) was  forced to admit it alters the temperatures recorded at almost all the official weather stations in Australia. Alterations resulted in higher temperatures being reported for the present and lower numbers for the past--with the higher numbers being used to demonstrate a historical warming trend--than the numbers that were actually recorded. Evidently ABM’s view is, like that of most liberals, when the question is climate change and you already know the answer, if the data do not support the answer, lie.

 

-In its 2007 3rd Assessment Report, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change claimed there will be “warmer winters and fewer cold spells, because of climate change.” Nevertheless, prominent global warming alarmists responded to the exceptionally cold winter of 2013–14 by claiming just the opposite, that global warming causes colder winters.

-More than a dozen peer-reviewed studies on corals, carbon dioxide, and warming temperatures show corals are thriving under global warming and will likely do so for the foreseeable future, debunking that global warming and rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are causing harmful ocean acidification.

- The nutritious content of agricultural crops is improving as a result of rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, peer-reviewed studies show. A paper published by CO2 Science and the Science and Public Policy Institute summarizes more than 40 studies documenting the beneficial impact of rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels on the nutritious quality of agricultural crops.

- Global warming alarmists escalated their venomous attacks against global warming skeptics. algore told an audience at the University of Hawaii that presenting evidence counter to his global warming claims is “immoral, unethical, and despicable.” Meanwhile, the leftist Internet magazine Grist published a lengthy article comparing global warming to slavery.

-The 2014 WMO Greenhouse Gas Bulletin, by the World Meteorological Organization, omitted any discussion on the fact that there has been no significant warming trend in the atmosphere for more than a decade, and no warming trend on the surface for approximately 20 years, which is fundamental to a proper assessment of the state of the changing climate.

-Global weather patterns have been much the same now for a significant while, alarmist climate scientists were caught lying about climate data in the Climategate scandal, and there is an active debate within the scientific community concerning the extent to which human greenhouse gases are driving dangerous climate change, there are a lot of smart people on the other side of the global warming issue.

-Climate alarmists have worked diligently, and persuasively, to undermine the teaching of sound science, the scientific method, and critical thinking in America’s primary, secondary, and college classrooms. Climate alarmists want to indoctrinate America’s youth, not the acquisition of knowledge, competence, or civic virtues, turning green robots loose on their parents and the world. We must take back the education of our kids from government schools, driven by government-approved curricula, taught by government-approved educators. Educational choice is the cornerstone of continued human well-being.

 

-75% of science teachers reported they discuss global warming in the classroom, typically for less than an hour or two over the course of an academic year. Of those who do, just over half push the false alarmists’ line that 97% of scientists have determined human fossil fuel use is causing catastrophic climate change. 30% of science teachers who discuss climate change say humans may be partly to blame, but natural factors also play a role. 10% of science teachers deny humans play any role in climate change, and 5% of those who discuss climate change in the classroom don’t discuss causes at all. 

-Judge William Alsup dismissed the climate liability lawsuit brought against 5 oil companies by the cities of Oakland and San Francisco. Alsup decided Congress and the president were best suited, as opposed to cities, states, or the judiciary, to determine what to do about human greenhouse gas emissions from the use of fossil fuels, which would violate the Constitution’s division of powers and federal law. In addition  Alsup argued any harm greenhouse gas emissions may cause must be weighed against the tremendous benefits fossil fuels have delivered to the world. Alsup wrote. “Without those fuels, virtually all of our monumental progress would have been impossible. All of us have benefitted. Having reaped the benefit of that historic progress, would it really be fair to now ignore our own responsibility in the use of fossil fuels and place the blame for global warming on those who supplied what we demanded?” In the end, Oakland and San Francisco were wrong on the science, policy, and critically, the law.
