"Rocky Mountain Heist" is a 2014 documentary produced by Citizens United and narrated by Michelle Malkin. It claims that a small group of extremely wealthy liberal donors orchestrated a deliberate, highly coordinated plan to turn Colorado from a red-leaning swing state into a solid Democratic stronghold in less than a decade.The film focuses on four main figures, often called the "Gang of Four":
👉Pat Stryker (pharmaceutical heiress)
👉Tim Gill (software entrepreneur and major LGBTQ-rights donor)
👉Rutt Bridges (investment firm executive)
👉Jared Polis (tech entrepreneur and future governor)
Starting around 2004–2005, these four (with Polis being the youngest and one of the most active) helped create the Colorado Democracy Alliance, a private, invitation-only network that pooled huge sums of money from dozens of rich progressive donors. The alliance then funneled the cash through a web of nonprofits, 527 political groups, think tanks, media outlets, and voter-mobilization operations, essentially building a permanent progressive political machine from scratch.
According to the documentary, their strategy (later nicknamed the "Colorado Model") included:
👉Targeting and defeating specific Republican legislators through recalls, negative advertising, and third-party attacks
👉Flipping both chambers of the state legislature to Democratic control in 2004 (the first time since the early 1970s)
👉Passing ballot measures on renewable energy, same-day voter registration, mail-in voting, and other progressive priorities
👉Massive turnout operations in Denver and Boulder that overwhelmed rural Republican areas
👉Creating or funding ostensibly independent groups (media watchdogs, "good-government" organizations, etc.) that all worked in coordinated fashion
The film portrays Jared Polis as one of the key architects and bankrollers, highlighting his personal wealth from selling companies like ProFlowers and his aggressive push for the agenda. It accuses the group of using secretive "dark money" while simultaneously attacking Republicans for the same thing, and it points to leaked strategy memos with blunt language like "Educate the Idiots" for minority voter outreach. And yes, I have the evidence of that as well.
By 2014, when the documentary was released, Democrats had 'won' the governor’s mansion, both U.S. Senate seats, and sustained legislative majorities. The film argues this wasn’t organic. It was a top-down "heist" engineered by a handful of millionaires and billionaires who outspent and out-organized Republicans at every level.
"Rocky Mountain Heist" is the explanation for why Colorado went from 'purple' to deep blue, and they often point to Polis (now the state’s governor) as the living embodiment of that takeover.
And rigged voting machines/results made a lot of this possible. This is why these criminals fight to keep early/mass-mail voting and the machines. They used and need them to stay in power.
