Conservative Board Members Look to Restore Failing and Ideologically Adrift New College in Florida
DeSantis Pushing Back: Looks to Restore Failing and Ideologically Adrift New College in Florida. Fl.gov: Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Christopher Rufo, Dr. Matthew Spalding, Dr. Charles R. Kesler, Dr. Mark Bauerlein, Debra Jenks, and Jason “Eddie” Speir to the New College of Florida Board of Trustees(Fl.gov). Chris Rufo: The immediate experiment is to say, can we take a university that is notoriously low performing, can we change it to a classical liberal arts model, bring in conservative faculty, bring in conservative leadership, bring in a new president, which we’ve just done. We terminated the contract of the now-former president at our first board meeting… The bigger experiment is can conservatives actually govern public institutions? Can they start changing the culture of the public universities? And then can this be a model for every red state in the country to go away from the DEI-style bureaucracy (Daybreak Daily). New board members also includes Ryan Anderson (Palm Beach Post).
