Troy Jackson, the DSA Dem running against Republican Susan Collins, bought an Augusta house in 2019 with a federally insured FHA loan.
He initialed the page that says the house would be his principal residence within 60 days — and stay that way for at least a year.
Then he told the Ethics Commission, over and over, that he lived in Allagash.
Now he's saying that he only bought the house as a storage unit -- effectively admitting (again) that he committed mortgage fraud.
FHA loans are for people buying a first home, a home that is meant to be lived in full-time. Jackson, as a socialist, should have understood that he was taking advantage of an anti-poverty program -- literally taking a home away from a middle class Mainer -- to get his storage unit.
The contract language is not Ancient Greek:
“I will occupy the Property and use the Property as my principal residence within 60 days… I will continue to occupy the Property… for at least one year.”Jackson signed it. He initialed the occupancy page. Then he flipped the profit for a nice Covid Era capital gain. And he's spent the last three years bellowing that he never occupied the house.
