• Abrego was driving a vehicle owned by convicted human smuggler Jose Hernandez Reyes.
• During the stop, Abrego called Reyes and allegedly told the trooper he was calling “his boss.”
• Reyes later told investigators Abrego worked as a driver in his smuggling operation and had him saved in his phone as “Chauffeur.”
• Abrego claimed he was driving from St. Louis to Baltimore, but license-plate data allegedly showed the vehicle had come from Texas.
• The nine passengers reportedly had no luggage despite supposedly making a long-distance trip.
• Additional witnesses later allegedly corroborated the smuggling operation.
Abrego Garcia is the man the Trump administration has accused of MS-13 ties and human smuggling, and whom Democratic lawmakers and much of the corporate press turned into a national martyr over his deportation.
