 We must streamline the approval process of permitting more power plants or we will fall behind the power curve (excuse the pun) 

You can’t exactly snap your fingers and generate more electricity; “typically a nuclear power plant will take over five years to construct whereas natural gas-fired plants are frequently built in about 2 years.” And that’s just the time to build it once all the permitting issues, environmental reviews, and lawsuits are resolved, which as you’ve probably noticed, can take a long time to sort out. To be useful, a power plant must get connected to the grid, and a July report from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory laid out that the permitting and approval process to get hooked up to the grid has a frustratingly long backlog: Most interconnection requests are never actually built – proposed power plants may not come to fruition for a variety of reasons. Looking historically at interconnection requests submitted from 2000-2020, just 13 percent of capacity had come online by the end of 2025, while 75% had withdrawn (final outcome of more recent projects cannot yet be determined). Withdrawal rates are relatively high (>40%) even after signing an interconnection agreement, posing challenges for grid planners and operators. Additionally, interconnection process timelines remain high: the median duration from submitting a request to signing an [interconnection agreement] was well over 3 years in 2025, while the timeline to reach commercial operations exceeds 5 years (for the subset of regions with available data).

Meanwhile, a study published in the journal Nature finds the Earth continued greening through 2025, setting new records for global leaf and vegetation cover—a record largely attributable to the fertilization effect of rising CO2 concentrations. The international team of scientists and scholars from universities and research institutes in China, the UK, and the US integrated multidecadal remote sensing, optical Earth observation indices, and long-term land-cover annual data sets to discover anomalies and trends over time. The study found: “2025 set a record for global vegetation greenness, steepening the global average greening trend measured from 2000 through 2024." The beneficial greening was not limited to select regions or continents. It was experienced around the globe, in large parts of Africa, Australia, China, Europe, North America, and South America. In addition, the greening was common across plant types. The study found:

    •    80% of croplands experienced greening;
    •    72% of grasslands greened appreciably; and
    •    60% of forests exhibited increased greening.

"This greening story—a tale that gets more impressive every year—is largely absent from the mainstream media. It was certainly missing from a recent climate contribution from the left-wing Telegraph that made an unsourced claim that 33% of the agricultural production of Bangladesh is feared to vanish by 2050. Happily, there is no sign of that invented fear coming true since agricultural production has more than doubled in the country since the turn of the century...that suggests journalists hired to broadcast opinions and beliefs steer well clear of science where data and facts are given a higher priority."-- Daily Skeptic

The idea that a pending climate disaster justifies a big-government, top-down remake of the entire economy is what climate alarmists have been calling for. As is true with so many bought and paid for (with taxpayer dollars) agency reports issued by bureaucracies across the globe, when weather data doesn’t fit the climate crisis narrative, they fall back on models’ forecasts of doom instead of following the facts, despite the known flaws in those models and their patent historical inability to model temperatures accurately. Weather is the same as always: chaotic and variable, with little if any in the way of worsening trends. Climate is also the same, changing slowly over time, with species adapting to such changes or, in some cases, altering the local environment to fit their needs.
