NACIQI, a federal advisory panel, voted 7-4 to recommend the Education Department suspend the APA Commission on Accreditation's federal recognition for 12 months. Reasons include non-compliance findings and failure to address a pervasive culture of antisemitism in its programs, with additional concerns raised about DEI and gender-related standards. The recommendation is not final; the Department decides. If enacted, it could limit federal funding for accredited psychology programs and affect licensure in some states, though APA says it can continue accrediting via other means.
