Federal Charges Filed in NYPD School Safety Contract Corruption Case
Former Commanding Officer of the NYPD’s School Safety Division, Inspector Kevin Taylor was arrested for Bribery and other charges by U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
Federal prosecutors allege that Taylor solicited and accepted bribes including cash, luxury hotel stays, helicopter tours, Broadway tickets, and other entertainment in exchange for steering NYPD contracts to a Florida businessman’s company for an app that acts as a panic button and tip hotline as if 911 doesn’t already exist.
Other members of the Adams administration were also pushing putting tax payer funded panic buttons inside of bodegas and recently a bill has been put in NYC Council to put tax payer funded panic buttons inside of houses of worship. I am not aware that this business had anything to do with those ideas but they are just as eyebrow raising as Kevin Taylor attempting to sell this as a “Game Changer” a line that was used by many NYPD officials during that time to describe more than questionable contracts.
