Jayden Williams, 23, made history as Georgia’s youngest mayor when he took office in Stockbridge in January 2026.
Less than a year later, his tenure has come to an abrupt end.
The Stockbridge City Council voted Sept. 12 to remove Williams from office following an investigative hearing into allegations involving municipal spending and his communications with an 18-year-old high school student.
Investigators presented evidence that Williams used a city purchasing card for personal expenses, including food, clothing and a haircut. Williams acknowledged making personal purchases but testified that he mistakenly used the city card because it resembled his personal card. He said he later repaid the money.
The investigation also examined sexually explicit messages exchanged between Williams and the 18-year-old. Williams acknowledged during the hearing that some messages were explicit, while maintaining that both individuals were adults and that their communications occurred before he took office.
The council ultimately impeached and removed Williams on grounds including alleged malfeasance, misfeasance and violation of his oath of office.
Williams is not facing criminal charges related to the allegations, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
From becoming the youngest mayor in Georgia history to being removed from office just 10 months later, Williams’ political career has taken a dramatic turn.
