was on Shively & Shoulders a few weeks ago and was asked whether Indiana could revisit congressional redistricting next legislative session.Braun said he understood and generally agreed with the argument for mid-decade redistricting, saying Republicans believe Blue states like Massachusetts, California, Illinois, and New York have benefited from aggressive gerrymandering and census rules that have created an uneven political playing field.
He said Indiana has traditionally played by the rules, but argued national politics has become much more aggressive, which he said is putting pressure on Republicans to respond.
Braun also said he was not convinced redistricting in Indiana was absolutely necessary, but understood why many Republicans supported the idea.
When asked whether new maps could disenfranchise Black voters in Gary or Indianapolis, Braun said he would never support that, adding that racism and bigotry cannot be tolerated.
I'm not sure why they pulled the race card.
