We saw a lot of devastation during the riots in a variety of different cities.

Perhaps one of the most troubling things was seeing destruction in neighborhoods that could ill afford to lose stores that had now been looted, destroyed and/or burnt out. Seeing black business owners like Korboi Balla losing his life’s dream, the sports bar he worked toward for so long. Or Stephanie Wilford, who was disabled and so could only go to stores near her apartment, her despair knowing that those stores that she so relied on as her lifeline to sustain herself were now gone. Fortunately in both cases, generous people stepped up to help them. But there are thousands adversely affected who didn’t have their stories covered.

We’re not sure exactly where this store is but hearing from this young black mother who needed to go to the store to get things to feed her kids, her heartbreaking words as she discovers the devastation there and as she notes that all the grocery stores in the neighborhood look like this.
