Yep, and make no mistake; this is all about the pursuit of statehood for DC since the Congress has abdicated its constitutional authority to govern the district in which our national government is supposed to reside. Does anyone actually believe that the voters and power brokers in DC will put the best interests of the rest of the states above their own?
The House needs to turn this fiasco on end... End Home Rule in DC and return the police, courts, prosecutors, and administration of the District's government to the House... where the Constitution established it...
Congress must retain its Constitutional sovereignty over the District of Columbia... to avoid runaway prosecutions and police abuse by opposing political interests. By retaining soverign jurisdiction over the District l Congress can ensure that the local administration of the law and the District's police powers are not used to coerce or quel political speech and activism. Congress is to be the check and balance on the DC government and its administration of the law.
