The nation’s supply of food could take a hit if railroad workers go on strike, driving up prices at the grocery store and limiting U.S. grain exports to countries facing famine.
As soon as next week, 115,000 freight rail workers could walk out if they cannot reach a new contract with railroads, potentially shutting down the national rail network that transports 20 percent of all grain shipments.
While unions say they want to avert a strike, and Congress has the power to block it, the U.S. food sector is rattled by the prospect of a national railroad shutdown in the middle of peak harvest season.
A ‘devastating ripple effect’
Even a short-lived interruption “would create a devastating ripple effect” on the nation’s fragile supply chains, said Lee Sanders, senior vice president of government relations and public affairs at the American Bakers Association.
“Rail-dependent facilities would be unable to receive materials and ingredients, and millions of Americans a day would be unable to receive the baked goods they rely on to feed themselves, their families, and communities,” she said.

The trick here is twofold... 1) Who decides which individuals are able, and 2) Who are needy? Shall we ask Pelosi or AOC? Is the government willing and capable of covering up a national labor strike... yes and no. Yes, it can deny both the size and significance of the strike with the aid of the MSM, but it can not hide the effects of the strike. .. empty shelves, closed restaurants, shuttered retail outlets, food, and fuel shortages, etc. It was the effects of well-ccordinated labor strikes and non-violent demonstrations that brought down the Polish Communist GOvernmetn and if properly applied they can bring government reform in America

You know why... There is no leadership to organize, resource, or fund such a strike. The GOP is not going to call for such a strike it may work... then what... they are out of power.
Formative and needed change will not come without SACRIFICE... serious suffering in some cases will happen if we are to wrest the government out of the Marxists' hands. The People have allowed the Democrats to steal their VOTE and NOW THEY APPEAR WILLING TO ALLOW THEM TO STEAL THEIR GOVERNMENT... and their children and grandchildren's heritage.
The people get the government they ALLOW to govern... however, it takes real commitment, dedication, and sacrifice for the people to shut down the economy, starve the banksters, and disrupt the political cabal leveraging the people's capitulation... as they put the public out of their homes and into the streets using the police state. The People either organize and take to the streets in protest .... on strike... demanding term limits, balanced budgets, and new elections, or end up on the street with their hands out looking for their next meal.
It is time for the people to realize they are at war with the government for their very survival... as a free people and Constitutional Republic. The People have no champion in the current political parties and Pres. Trump is being marginalized by forces with unlimited funds and resources.
It is time for the people to consider ACTIVE... passive-aggressive protests... NATIONAL LABOR STRIKES in exchange for real government reforms... Term Limits and Recall Amendment, a Balanced Budget Amendment, and a total reorganization of the Administrative State to limit their term of service and strip them of their ADMINISTRATIVE COURT AND POLICE POWERS.
We must return to the original Constitutional means for selecting and appointing US Senators and for the ELECTION OF PRESIDENT... NOT A POPULAR VOTE. Let the states choose who becomes President and our US Senators. Thus, keeping the separation of powers in balance, with the States holding the majority power.
Why has this not occurred earlier? LaCK OF LEADERsHIP AND ResOUrCING... without leaders to organize and resource the essentials required to instigate a coordinated strike ... it simply will not happen... Strikes are not spontaneous events they require leadership, resourcing, and organization. Until recently there has not been the needed leadership or resources.
The general public is reluctant to risk their families and jobs on political issues... Issues, that they don't fully understand, and are often confused over their options for solving intractable problems... Leadership is needed to focus their attention and to offer solutions they view as workable. The Public understands 'Strikes" as a peaceful means to bring about negotiated settlements to major impasses between groups. They are likely to join and support such a movement before taking up arms or resorting to more violent means to bring about government reforms.
