Joe Biden sent family and aides a series of negative articles on Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential bid, emails reveal.
The then-vice president sent his children, their spouses, his grandchildren and his chief of staff stories about Hillary's declining popularity with black voters, an impending Justice Department investigation over her use of a private email server, and her top aide's controversial private deals with the United Arab Emirates.
Two of the emails were sent in October 2015, in the days before Biden announced he was dropping out of the 2016 presidential race, and one in February 2016.
The president has long had barely disguised animus toward Clinton. In an interview at a hedge fund conference in 2017 he said: I never thought she was a great candidate. I thought I was a great candidate.'
The first email, sent around 6am on October 2, 2015, had the subject line 'Supporters', and contained a link to the political news site Real Clear Politics, republishing a Washington Post story from the day before about a dramatic drop in Hillary's polling among black democrat voters.

The story focused on a poll from Suffolk University and USA Today which had her down 31 points among black Democrats and down nine points among white Democrats since July that year.
The story noted that 'Clinton is down 16 points in net favorability, and [rival Bernie] Sanders is up 31.'
'Non-whites have consistently been more supportive of Hillary Clinton than whites,' the story said.
'A new poll from Suffolk University and USA Today, though, suggests a big shift among African Americans that could undermine that confidence.'
The story referred to speculation at the time that Biden would drop out of the race following the death of his son in May 2015.
'The vice president does better with blacks than Sanders, and past polls have shown that many Biden backers would go to Clinton if he were to decide not to run,' it said.
Joe emailed the story to his sister Valerie Owens, his brother Jim, his granddaughters Finnegan and Naomi, his son Hunter, daughter Ashley, her husband Howard Krein, and his widowed daughter-in-law Hallie.
