A 15-year-old from Honduras found with a 43-year-old man, who had arrest warrants out of Butler County, has led to an investigation for possible human trafficking.
An investigation started in Butler County when Sheriff Richard Jones says his office got a report about a relationship between 43-year-old Isauro Garcia Cruz and the teen.
As detectives looked into the report, they were led to Bedford County, Virginia.
There, Sheriff Jones said, is where law enforcement found Garcia Cruz and the 15-year-old on March 4.
Garcia Cruz is “an undocumented Mexican citizen,” according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
The Honduran teen is an “unaccompanied female from Honduras,” Sheriff Jones said.
She was staying in Middletown with a sponsor chosen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Sheriff Jones explained.
The teen’s sponsor, the sheriff said, was “an illegal immigrant” and was dating Garcia Cruz.
