How it started:
This morning at 9AM Julian Wachner went before a judge for the first time facing 10 counts of Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material (Level 5 Felonies) and Possession of Cocaine (Level 4 Felony).
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears released this statement saying, “The allegations in this case include the horrifying and unimaginable sexual abuse of children, including infants. We will aggressively prosecute the defendant’s alleged purchase and possession of disturbing child sex abuse material.”
I first told you about Wachner last week as he was working as a 4th grade teacher at Invent Learning in Indianapolis. He is also a world-renowned composer and conductor.
This investigation started with cryptocurrency company, Robinhood, notifying law enforcement that one of its users was utilizing their currency to purchase child sexual abuse material on the dark web. Detectives assigned to this case wrote up a 30-page probable cause that includes detailed diagrams of how they tracked Wachner’s crypto through some 37 wallet addresses purchasing tokens and exchanging them for CSAM.
New information includes what detectives say they found on Wachner's computers and what he downloaded. The sex abuse videos are described as hours long, compilation videos depicting girls and boys being sexually assaulted by men. Some are babies. I don't want to get into more detail, but tears are coming out of my eyes right now.
Detectives say Wachner told them the Child Sexual Abuse Material in his possession depicted minors ranging in age from approximately 1 to 16 years old.
He told them his preference was for material involving children between the ages of 6 and 13
Wachner is out of jail now on a $15,000 surety bond.
How it ended:
I broke this story more than a year ago and today Julian Wachner found out he will face no prison time for possession of hours long videos of girls and boys being raped.Wachner admitted he made hundreds of purchases of the child sexual abuse material using crypotcurrency and had a "substantial quantity of cocaine" inside his bedroom closet when he was arrested.
Back in 2025 Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears told us the allegations were horrifying and unimaginable sexual abuse of infants. He put out a statement at the time saying his office would "aggressively prosecute the case."
Wachner entered into a plea deal and today was sentenced to 6 years probation. He will have to register as a sex offender but spend no time in prison.
