It actually started because 5 black women sued GM in 1976 and the court said “sorry, we already hire women and black people, so you can’t claim discrimination as both at once.”

Kimberlé Crenshaw just gave that legal blind spot a fancy name in 1989.

Now the same idea is used to rank entire groups of people by how oppressed they supposedly are and decide who deserves power over everyone else.

So we basically went from fixing one court’s technicality to building a new caste system based on identity checkboxes.

And they have the nerve to call this progress.
