Republicans are requesting that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo turn over a broad scope of unredacted Obama-Biden State Department documents relating to Hunter Biden, Burisma Holdings and its founder Mykola Zlochevsky.
As noted by investigative reporter Sara Carter, the Ukrainian gas company was at the center of the impeachment inquiry against President Trump, and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, sent Pompeo a letter stating that recently released documents âappear to shed new lightâ on Democrat connections to the ânotoriously corruptâ Burisma.

Jordan noted that Burismo made âa broad effort⌠to bring in well-connect Democrats during a period when the company was facing investigations.â Then-Vice President Joe Bidenâs son and former Secretary John Kerryâs step son, Christopher Heinz, were among these individuals.
Hunter Biden was reportedly paid over $80,000 a month to sit on Burismaâs board.
The documents showed former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch was briefed on Hunter Bidenâs role with Burisma and alleged corruption at the company, Jordan said.
âAmbassador Yovanovitch testified during her impeachment deposition that she could not recall a briefing about issues relating to Burisma,â he then added.
Jordan also spoke of the role played by the alleged âwhistleblower,â whose complaint drove the Democratâs partisan impeachment ploy.
âIn addition, according to news reports, other State Department documents show that the alleged âwhistleblowerâ who started the Democratsâ partisan impeachment inquiry also played a role in facilitating the Obama-Biden Administrationâs interactions with the Ukrainian government relating to Burisma and Hunter Biden,â the lawmaker said. âThese documents reportedly detail how the âwhistleblower,â as a National Security Council (NSC) detailee, hosted a White House meeting that took place with Ukrainian prosecutors in January 2016 regarding a concern that Hunter Bidenâs role with Burisma could complicate a potential prosecution of the companyâs wrongdoing.â
Jordan set a date of May 28 for the committee to receive the requested information.
