Donald Trump has been vindicated and victorious again regarding the mayhem at Lafayette Park last year.
A judge has dismissed a bulk of lawsuits brought against Trump by protesters at Lafayette Park.
The plaintiffs in the case tried claiming in court that the government used unnecessary force to clear the park so that Trump could stag a “photo op” with a Bible in front of the historical St. John’s Church that was burned down.
However, U.S. District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich of Washington was not buying it.
Friedrich called allegations that federal officials conspired to make way for the photo “too speculative.”
“The plaintiffs’ claims of impending future harm are too speculative to confer standing to seek an injunction,” Friedrich wrote in a 51-page decision released Monday afternoon.
“Such harm would require that plaintiffs again demonstrate in Lafayette Square; that agencies headed by the official-capacity defendants again respond to the demonstration; that federal officers again use that law enforcement response as cover to deliberately target non-violent peaceful demonstrators; and that one or more of the plaintiffs again be targeted. This hypothetical chain of events is simply too speculative to confer standing for injunctive relief.”
Here’s the cherry on top: an Inspector General’s report on the Lafayette Park incident determined that the Trump administration did not clear the protestors for the “photo op.”
