The #KamalaHarris event at UW #Milwaukee today is extremely restrictive and secretive.

-regular students can’t get in without random text message invite. No one told them where it will be held or even that it was happening if they didn’t get the rare text (with the exception of student media finding out because they heard about the texts from people who got them)

-Campus officials wouldn’t confirm she is coming and sent out an email warning about traffic and parking that didn’t even mention her yesterday

-#Milwaukee media were in the dark until student journalists broke the story after learning some students were getting the texts (Journal Sentinel had to aggregate student media because campaign and university wouldn’t confirm it). Campaign sent out media rsvp for her La Crosse and Green Bay appearances but hadn’t sent anything out for Milwaukee as of last night

Without student media learning of the texts, regular student body and faculty might not even have learned she was coming if they weren’t selected for a text.

-They are limiting media to 1 per outlet
Not sure why they’re being this secretive but they are. It’s a public university campus. #breaking
