Beshear’s disgusting attack on flood victims and farmers must end NOW.
My friend
@CandyMassaroni
informed me that Andy Beshear’s administration, rather than helping her constituents, is retaliating against a deer farmer in her district by trying to revoke his farm licenses… because a few of his deer got loose in the historic floods that ravaged Kentucky.These floods left several Kentuckians dead, and so many more displaced. People lost their homes, their farms, and their small businesses. They were so bad that the National Guard had to boat in supplies to people who were trapped because their entire community was under water.
President Trump is fighting for Kentucky, and declared a major disaster to make us eligible for aid. I just wish Andy Beshear would work with President Trump and ensure the Commonwealth’s executive branch stood for Kentuckians, rather than bullying them.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW), whose board is appointed by the governor, is using this devastating flood to attack deer farmers and grow their power over Kentuckians. In this instance, a deer farmer’s land (which had NEVER previously flooded in at least a century) was completely flooded. As a result of these floods, the farmer was left with the choice of letting some deer loose or letting them drown. He made the easily correct decision and protected his livestock.
In response, DFW is citing this farmer for not properly maintaining his fence (because it was under water), and for not reporting his loose deer within 48 hours. Perhaps the reason he did not issue the report was because his farm was UNDER WATER FOR OVER A WEEK.
DFW is threatening to revoke his Deer Farming license and even kill his animals. This is disgusting, Nanny-State BS, and an attack on Kentucky Farmers.
I grew up on a farm, and I live on a small farm. Farmers deal with enough troubles as they ensure we have food, water, and resources that make civilization possible. The Beshear Admin. adding more burdens to farmers, and retaliating against them while Kentuckians recover from the horrific floods is just disgusting.
I am calling for DFW to immediately cease any enforcement actions they are taking on flood victims. Kentuckians and Farmers deserve better.
