Skeptical, Only in California would City Councils be allowed by Statue/State Constitution to occupy the potential conflicting Seats of Both that and County Commissions. Assessments and Divisions of Property Taxes alone would be a Legal Minefield Nightmare! Regardless of the potential isolated position of the L.A. Sheriff, All other Sheriffs duly appointed we've at the Will of The Citizens they are Elected to Serve and Protect, and not those holding the "Purse Strings!

Skeptycal, A Sheriff's Budget comes directly from their County/District/Parish, and not One Dime is dependent on State Resources. County/District/Parish Directors/Boards/Commissioners are Elected by those within the Boundaries, same as the Sheriff and subject to the same Removal Procedures.

A "Sheriff" is actually the only True Representation of Law of the People in their Jurisdiction, as that "Position" is the "Only Elected Law Enforcement Position." He cannot be fired, only Voted out of Office, or Recalled through some State Constitutional Mechanism. The Voters, the Citizens of His/Her Territory are the only Boss answerable to. A Sheriff can tell the State Poice, FBI, and all others to "Go to Help and get out of their Jurisdiction, unless Invited".

So when we he be fired. I don't know what the laws in CA are (our Sheriff's are elected), but I will bet if he is appointed he will be gone.
I believe I voted for this county Sheriff.
I doubt an appointee would cross the County seat (LA Council is both city and county authority). My guess is an elected official would anticpate budget reduction for reprisal, which he is already being troubled with. Scandal or accident (debiliating or fatal) is what I predict as a likely action. But considering the wind change in political awareness, I bet they would not risk following directives.
This Sheriff is taking his oath and its Constitutional empowerment in statute to heart, I'd say.

I can tell he doesn't have the NWO flame lit under his khakis.
He ties the dis-incentive of losing a chunk of his workforce, to the City Hall efforts to cut his budget.
This completely short-circuits the civilian police elimination effort. He needs to watch his back, because Globalists have no issues hassling anyones personal life.
And as a final observation any business in the county knowing this, could conceivably blow off the Health department goon threat to shut the business down due to covid non-compliance. It takes sheriffs to "make it happen".
The health nazis could issue fine citations though.
