AG Letitia James and the NYC district attorneys need to be investigated for whether they’re going soft on illegal aliens with gun charges. On Thursday James and the DAs held a gun-safety press conference and were asked by a reporter whether any of them had ordered prosecutors to downgrade gun charges against illegal immigrants so those non-citizens could stay in the U.S. James refused to answer. The DAs said it wasn’t on topic. They smiled and shrugged instead of giving a clear no. That warrants an investigation. Their non-answer says it all. A House Judiciary report earlier this week already showed Bronx and Queens prosecutors being trained to offer non-deportable offenses and keep guns out of the record of conviction. If James and her DAs weren’t doing this, they could’ve easily said so. They didn’t. The left’s narratives keep colliding. They want to look tough on guns while protecting the illegal immigrants who use them. Being a Democrat in government means you can’t stay consistent because Democrat policies fight each other. That’s why basic questions about the contradictions produce these awkward moments. If James and her ilk are putting the lives of all Americans at risk by keeping violent criminals in the U.S. for political reasons, that kind of reckless endangerment of the public needs to be investigated and prosecuted. Don’t wait a moment. The DOJ needs to start questioning James immediately.
