  • All the pretty words and contrite Patriotic phrases to back what so well fit the qualifications for "Leadership", be it Military or Government worked well in our lifetimes and those before us. The Citizen Voters replacing us as we pass on are having to rely on a Great Change In Selection. Currently 95% of our Congressmen have College Degrees, Predominantly in Public Service/Politics and 37% in Law/Lawyers. In 1973 81% of the Senate were Veterans, with 75% of the House. In 1993 that had dropped to 38% in the Senate and 28% in the House. Currently for Both it is 17%. With these selections Our Nation has been stripped of Industries and Manufacturers. Our Military reduced to paying for "Sex Changes", and conditions made unbearable/unpridefull to attract honorable, fit American Youth. What is it among all this to offer the Generation X and Millennials, except to listen to their " Wants and Needs" and create new avenues for them to be addressed! These are the 100,000,000 Votes not cast for lack of attention and saying "Do it my way!", When "My Way" has reached extinction! Look around, whatever you're selling ain't working anymore.

  • For there to be a "Leader" there must first be a "Goal."

  • In order to Lead, One must first be capable of listening to which direction people want to go. We all must begin to listen to those One Hundred Million Votes not cast last election, to find the directions they want to go. They are the Generations we will leave behind as we pass.

    • Lynn:

There are two fundamental problems with your statement on leadership...

      1) Leaders lead by definition... Good leaders don't NECESSARILY choose to go where the public would take the Nation. In fact, during a crisis, it is almost certain that leadership will take a route that the people resist, out of uncertainty. It is up to good leadership to convince and motivate the people to support them. Weak leadership sticks a finger in the air and goes in the direction the wind is blowing.  Sorry, but that IS NOT the mark of EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP.  That type of action is what is passed off as leadership today. Leadership that listens to marketing gurus, polling data, and focus groups is too often vacillating and ineffective.  How has that form of leadership worked for America?

      2) When voting for the lesser of two evils... the standard for elections today... both choices are less than optimal... and do not reflect the will of voters.  Both political parties are experts at creating legislative referenda and party planks that attract voters; only to have the voter discover, too late, that what they thought they voted for is not  WHAT THEY GET.  Hence, an analysis of the vote, more often than not, leads to MISDIRECTION and POOR LEADERSHIP.

True leaders plan well,  properly analyze the situation, develop an effective plan, present their plan, and motivate effective support for it...  True leaders lead from the front, not from behind the curtains of polling booths and focus groups.  They see thru the biased and often stacked research of lobbyists and party hacks, to advance effective solutions.

Leaders lead, they do not operate by the will of polls or put their finger in the air to see which direction the wind is blowing.  Leaders are not moved by the MOB. THEY MOVE THE MOB. They listen to their constituents.  However, make their decisions based on the best course of action for the greater good ... not on the too often fickle and mercurial desire of the public.  They don't take a vote to decide on a course of action. They present their course of action and convince others to support it... they lead.  The MOB doesn't lead them.

  • Our American History recorded from the debates on both floors of Congress tell us of the abandonment of Faith, Morals and Honor in Own Bill of Rights beginning in the early 1820's with the discussions of "Slavery." Those calling for the immediate release cast aside the "Guarantee of Remuneration for Property Taken." Those who disallowed the taking of property to any and all States and Territories, disregarded the basic fundamental of Our Constitution of Free, Open and Unrestricted Access/Egress. Shouts of "Inhumanity" were raised at the Act of Slavery with no answers when comparisons were made from Plantation housings, foods, medicines and needs fulfillment to achieve maximum "Property Life/Value when compared to documented accounts of successful escapees having to live in the New Northern Homes in in sheltered alleys, without jobs and means of garnering foods, clothes and medicines for themselves and children. No mentions of these " Facts" are ever taught in any of Our Education Systems Public or Private, yet how many lives would have been saved and how much suffering could have been spared if only Our Bill of Rights had been adhered to and those in the South whose Wealth.lay in humans would have had monies to compete with those in the North whose Wealth lay in the Factories, Mines and Foundries whose employees lived truly bitter lives in Hellish Conditions? Within the first few years of Our Nation's Birth, Politicians, through their Party Affiliations, have worked harder to manipulate and disabuse Our Constitution/Bill of Rights than to Serve the Sovereign Citizens. It is they who have continually been to rot in the roots of the Tree of Liberty. We, The People, elect them to serve, not to trust nor to lead!

    • Really, we elect the Commander in Chief of the military with a mandate not to lead... and we expect members of Congress and the Administration to what... wait for the people to lead them in the fulfillment of their duties?

Our servants are assigned the authority and responsibility to conduct OUR government business.  Like the stewards of business, who serve their stockholders, and lead the corporation's employees,  our elected representatives lead the government.  Our senior Government servants lead the government agents and agencies in discharging the duties of their office.  The greater the government servant's authority, the greater the NEED FOR TRUST and skilled leadership.  You do greatly error.

Strange, I vote for those whom I FIRST TRUST, and then view as QUALIFIED LEADERS... Trust is the key factor in garnering my vote.  If most Americans view government service as you apparently do,  it is little wonder we have bad government.

  • Your Granddaughter needs to explain to whomever told her that crap that the word "Holiday" finds its origin for "Holy Days." Then she should explain that rather than risk insulting any other's Religious Beliefs, she will stick with "Merry Christmas."

  • What world is she living in?

  • WE WONT TOLERATE THIS BEHAVIOR!
