Minneapolis voters on Tuesday rejected a proposal to replace the city's police department with a new Department of Public Safety, an idea that supporters had hoped would bring radical change to policing in the city where George Floyd's death under an officer's knee brought calls for racial justice.
The initiative would have changed the city charter to remove a requirement that the city has to have a police department with a minimum number of officers. Supporters said a complete overhaul of policing was necessary to stop police violence.
Opponents said the proposal had no concrete plan for how to move forward and warned it would leave some communities already affected by violence more vulnerable as crime is on the rise.
The ballot proposal had roots in the abolish-the-police movement that erupted after Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer last year.

Ron, So Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Las Angeles and other Riot Devastated Metropolitan Areas mean nothing? Reports and MEDIA are not the sole sources of information available. Being Americans, many have the availability of communication with families and friends within and outside those mentioned areas, and the effects thereof. Word of mouth still remains the most powerful form of information.

Was Floyd killed by a police officer or stupidity on his part... the consumption of drugs including fentanyl and cocaine, a deadly combination for a man with known heart disease and circulatory ailments. Minneapolis is not suffering from police abuse it is suffering from stupidity and planed Marxist agitation and racial strife.
It defies logic to assume any community could lower "Traffic Violations" by removing "Traffic Enforcement!" One can substitute Robbery, or Fire, Assault, Property Destruction or any other Criminal Activity for "Traffic Violations", and the nonsense would hold true! Facts and figures on paper could lower, while actual human suffering and turmoil would increase, as evidenced via the " George Floyd MEDIA/Political Fiasco.

Remove the reports of violent crime and the reported incidents of criminal conduct always go down... so, if you can't lower the REPORTED rates of criminal conduct by enforcement... and in fact... successful enforcement leads to more reported crime the Marxist's and their statisticians fire the police and report lower rates of crime across the board. Which works until you are robbed on your way home or your daughter is rapped in a school restroom.. then a sudden awakening occurs... reported crime is not always a good indicator of actual criminal conduct... especially where no apparatus exists (policing) to report the crime.
