I think it would be very, very nice to have a whole new regiment of highly trained military dogs. The best. You know, the kind we left in Afghanistan, that take bookoo bucks to train.

No, ilona!! They are retired with ceremony and with honors. When they die they may have a casket or cremation. Both are made available. I read it takes about $10,000 to train each one, depending upon how extreme their training is. They are treated as Military soldiers who are K9.

No shooting our military dogs. That's what my response to you was about. They undergo lengthy training at a very high cost. They are offered ceremonies and caskets when they die. Explosives training, tracking and more. It would be inhumane to shoot them.
