At this point, there is only one thing we feel needs to be said:
Journalism in Charlotte took a major step backward today.
There is a difference between responsible journalism and reckless reporting. Publishing or directing the public to the personal home address of a government official retired or not, crosses a line that should never be crossed.
This is a government official who dedicated 30 years of his life to public service. A government official who was chosen to lead an agency. A government official who worked his ass off throughout his career doing the job he was entrusted to do and working to keep this country safe.
Regardless of anyone’s personal or political opinion of Gregory Bovino, his family and their home should not become collateral damage in a news story by a hack reporter.
David Hodges made a decision today that, in our opinion, reflects incredibly poorly on the ethical standards journalism is supposed to uphold.
And in doing so, David Hodges solidified his reputation today.
People will draw their own conclusions about what that reputation now represents.

Former Customs and Border Protection czar Gregory Bovino is living in Mecklenburg County, according to North Carolina voting records.
The North Carolina State Board of Elections voter search tool shows that Bovino registered at an address in Huntersville on July 28. Under North Carolina law, voters have to register to vote where they physically live and establish residency.
According to the voter records, Bovino registered his party as unaffiliated.
WBTV called the owner of the property that Bovino listed as his home. The person confirmed that Bovino is his brother-in-law, but did not confirm whether Bovino is living at the address.
