George Mason stood and pointed out to his fellow delegates at the Philadelphia Convention that the Constitution they were drafting had a flaw.
What if Congress became distant, even oppressive? Shouldn't there be a way for the people to bypass Congress when it doesn't listen? His fellow Framers agreed, and they unanimously voted to include the Convention of States process in the Constitution. We are using this process for exactly the purpose the Framers envisioned.
