CMPD is charging Evin Quarles with first degree murder for the death of Cameron Brice on Kittansett Drive over the weekend.
According to the affidavit, Quarles told Brice "we have smoke" and fired four shots at him.
21-year-old Quarles is the son of Huntersville Town Commissioner Edwin Quarles. Both are listed in the 10900 block of Beatties Ford Road. This is also where Huntersville PD says a home was shot into overnight. But HPD has not shared the specific address.
Quarles is being held on no bond.
In response to the arrest, Commissioner Quarles shared this statement: "Evin is my son and his personal matter has nothing to do with his mother or me. Based on the evidence gathered thus far, he will be ok! My family and I are ok and I will continue to serve my constituents well."
