Be a Somali with large debts, living with a gang criminal, and get elected to the Swedish parliament after Somalis were allegedly paid and driven to vote for you with pre-marked ballots.

Two Somali Swedish politicians from the far-left Left Party (V) have become central figures in an investigation into suspected electoral fraud before the newly elected Riksdag has even convened following the recent razor-thin vote. Mohamed Abdukardir Ali secured a parliamentary seat in Dalarna, becoming one of five Somali-origin MPs elected on 13 September, while Ahmed Abas Omar is a municipal candidate in Borlänge, where the alleged fraud occurred.
The investigation began with an anonymous tip during advance voting. According to SVT, police monitored vehicles transporting voters to polling stations and people trying to persuade voters to use Left Party ballots bearing a candidate’s pre-marked name. Aftonbladet reported that investigators photographed cash withdrawals and later observed the same person distributing money and ballots. What the money was for remains unclear.
The investigation was initially dropped due to insufficient evidence but reopened after new information emerged. Sweden’s national anti-corruption police are now handling the case, although neither politician has been formally identified as a criminal suspect.
