I just enacted a new law PROHIBITING other state militaries from entering California unless they have EXPLICIT permission from the Governor.

California will defend the rights of the nearly 40 million people who call our state home.
Gavin Newsom just signed a law that bars other state militaries from entering California without his explicit permission.

He posted that California will defend the rights of nearly 40 million people who call the state home.
He sounds like he is preparing for an invasion.

This law is so dumb. Who exactly does he think is going to send their National Guard into California?
The hypothetical goes like this. President Trump asks Ron DeSantis to ship Florida troops west, leaves them under DeSantis, and skips federalizing them. Then they roll in under Florida’s command.
That is not going to happen.
Trump already tried to move Texas Guard into Oregon last fall. Those troops were federalized first. Once they are federalized, they answer to the President, not the governor who signed the bus ticket.
Newsom knows that. He signed the bill anyway.
He wrote it in capital letters like this was Gettysburg. PROHIBITING. EXPLICIT permission. Forty million people to defend. Nobody is sending the Nevada Guard over the state line to seize Sacramento.
Governors already need a receiving state’s request before they send help. That is how states aid each other in fires and floods. Newsom just put a new lock on a door nobody was kicking.
SB 1354, written by Sen. Bob Archuleta, is a press release dressed up as a statute. It lets Newsom talk like California is under siege from other governors.
This is show. It makes Newsom look stupid.
Bottom line: you do not need an invasion law for an army that is not coming.
Funny thing, this doesn’t even include federalized national guard troops, so Newsom basically just signed a bill making it harder for other states to help us with riots, wildfires, earthquakes or any other major emergency. Great job. https://t.co/8Guxfmkmsw
