Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich foresees President Donald Trump nominating Amy Coney Barrett as the woman to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court, but having the tactical mind he does, Gingrich wants to make it clear that this is more of a problem for the Democrats than they think.
Barrett is a devout Catholic, and as such, effectively dared Democrats to attack her on those grounds, specifically potential Democrat VP Kamala Harris, who has a history of anti-Catholic bias.
Are Democrats prepared to say a devout Catholic is by definition unfit to serve on the Supreme Court? If no pro-life Justice is acceptable then no faithful Catholic, Evangelical or Orthodox Jew can be considered. Are Democrats really prepared to alienate that many Americans?

Harris famously wondered aloud if Nebraska district judge Brian Buescher was fit to serve because he was involved with the Knights of Columbas, a Catholic charity organization.
“Since 1993, you have been a member of the Knights of Columbus, an all-male society comprised primarily of Catholic men,” said Harris. “In 2016, Carl Anderson, leader of the Knights of Columbus, described abortion as ‘a legal regime that has resulted in more than 40 million deaths.’ Mr. Anderson went on to say that ‘abortion is the killing of the innocent on a massive scale.’ Were you aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman’s right to choose when you joined the organization?”
Harris isn’t the only Democrat that has shown an anti-Catholic bias. In 2017, California Democrat Senator Diane Feinstein told Barrett herself that her “domgma lives loudly” within her.
