County Prosecutor's Office Sgt. Darryl Brown, 43, of Sparta Township has been charged with third-degree theft after allegedly stealing a photojournalist's $10K camera bag at Delaney Hall ICE facility on May 30, per NJ Attorney General Jennifer Davenport.
The journalist was hospitalized for injuries sustained at the scene. An Apple AirTag in the bag led investigators to Brown's home. A June 3 search warrant recovered multiple items, with some still labeled with the victim's name and phone number.
Brown has been suspended without pay, per Essex County Prosecutor.
