New York has burned about $10 billion of city money on asylum seekers since 2023, plus $2.71 billion more from the state. That money should have gone to Americans and to people who came here legally. President Trump sits down with Mayor Mamdani today. That asylum invoice belongs at the top of the meeting.
Mamdani can talk compassion. He can’t talk his way around a ten-figure invoice. Legal immigrants waited in line. Taxpayers in this city already pay more for less. They don’t owe a dime to people who skipped the line.
The State Comptroller’s books show the city’s recorded spend at $1.47 billion in FY 2023, $3.75 billion in FY 2024, $3.02 billion in FY 2025, and $1.41 billion so far in FY 2026. That last year ended June 30 and is not closed. The city’s own plan still has it near $1.5 billion. FY 2027 already has $0.35 billion on the books for July and August. The program did not stop.
End NYC’s special spend on people who are illegally present in America. Send the money back to citizens and to people who followed the law. Otherwise federal tax dollars should stop flowing to New York. Americans should not be subsidizing these billions for foreigners who don’t belong in this country.
