PA - A grand jury indictment this week charges former Ligonier Valley Police Chief John Berger and associate Michael Hootman in a drug and bribery investigation.Hootman supplied narcotics, including cocaine, marijuana, and prescription pills, to Berger starting around January 2021.
Berger, who led the department from 2019 until his 2023 termination, faces felonies: bribery, theft, obstruction of law enforcement administration, use of a communication facility for criminal activity, and controlled-substance offenses.
Hootman is charged with drug trafficking and bribery.
