I am a new mom. I have a baby. I am a veteran. I am the first woman to be elected to hold FL-13 in Congress and the first Mexican American elected to Congress from Florida. According to the left, I check all the right boxes, except for one- I am a Republican.
In an attempt to gain any form of attention, my “opponent,” tried to label me as a threat to democracy. She then allowed her supporters on her campaign social media to publicly dox, coordinate, and solicit individuals to send threatening packages to my home address. The comment below is just one of many. Last night, the police department as well as the FBI were notified. There is now an open investigation with LEO. This info is all FOIAble.
I am, unfortunately, one of the top targeted members of Congress for violence. I have had threats made, things sent to my office, etc. Violence in politics is never acceptable and should never be condoned. Female members also happen to be the most targeted for violence and harassment.
The fact that this went on for weeks is not only abhorrent, but also it is shameful. The fact is, FL-13 is not and has never been a winnable seat for Democrats. However, the irresponsible rhetoric and attempt to dupe the district into thinking otherwise is what led to this. I have also received some pretty anti-Semitic and sexually harassing text messages from a leftist Democrat organization that was supporting my opponent, but I haven’t posted it. I will be happy to share this with any legitimate reporter who will cover.
I want to thank the police department, officers at PCSO, and the FBI for continuing to keep me, my family, and my staff safe. I also want to thank my supporters for not engaging in hateful, dangerous rhetoric. I think this should serve as an example of what not to do. I look forward to this November and continuing to represent the wonderful and diverse community we have here in Pinellas in Washington, DC.
