This is correct. I am proud of @Jim_Jordan - he is my friend, and I am frankly embarrassed by @HouseGOP who knifed him to avenge what Jim had nothing to do with. This is not over - it’s just beginning. https://t.co/nL6LXtwdac

First, let it be clear that the duties of the Speaker are not defined by the Constitution... they are defined by the Rules of the House. The rules of the HOuse are subject to a SIMPLE MAJORITY in the House...
So, the only crisis is one of honest brokers in the House... any rules that need to be changed to permit the House to function with or without a Speaker can be created with a simple majority vote...
This is all unnecessary falderal... more Kabuki theater to ram through reckless government spending and a host of bad laws ... while, blaming it on the PROCESS... The process is whatever Congress says it is.... in THEIR RULES.
The GOP cannot seem to break the habit of "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory," - - they manage to screw things up just about every time; they do it so often, you begin to think they must do it on purpose. They no longer surprise me.
Kinda’ makes you think it’s DELIBERATE doesn’t it?
Without a doubt - - -
These idiots had a chance to have a good speaker and they can't get it done. I'm sick of them! They'll lose the republic before they're willing to get together and beat the pants off the democrats. We'll end up with a compromise, perhaps a democrat.
CHIP, I'm with You and JIM
God bless Rep Roy, but does anyone here really believe his contention, "This is not over - it's just the beginning?" C'mon, really? Have we truly "just begun to fight?" as a defiant John Paul Jones shouted from a sinking ship? Recent cycles of history offer at least half a dozen "beginnings," including the Republicans' domination of Congress. How did that work out for us? Roy seems to be clinging to that old addage about losing the battle but eventually winning the war. I'm sorry, but this, the latest revolting exhibition of political cannibalism by GOP power players has served to dash my last hope for saving the Republic.
I see no path forward now. Call it what you want-- treason, collective stupidity, blind ambition-- it all comes down to betrayal. Yes, the Republican Party has once again betrayed the electorate, but this time it's fatal... the killing blow. If you don't believe me, watch the first cycle of DNC-sponsored political ads next year as Democrats successfully frame the House Speaker debacle as a government shutdown, and as solid evidence of a dysfunctional (Republican) party no longer capable of governing. And who could argue with them?
Have Democrats literally won the narrative? No. Republicans simply forfeited it.
MAYBE there's yet a REALITY to Scare them into line. IF THEY COULD ONLY SEE THEIR GRANDCHILDREN AS SLAVES
Too many crooks and rinos that need to be thrown out are behind this
