We are not a democracy.... the rights of the minority are protected in our Constitutional Republic. If we were a Democracy...the majority could deny the civil rights of minorities ... real or contrived minorities. Think about that for a little while. Democracies never last... once the majority understands they can take the wealth of others with their vote it is just a matter of time before revolution destroys the government.
