CNN could be forced to pay $1 billion Zachary Young, a plaintiff who they defamed maliciously according to the findings of a judge in Florida on their network. Jake Tapper basically called him a human trafficker and a war profiteer for charging people to get them evacuated from Afghanistan after Joe Biden has administration left people behind. The segment has been taken off the air since then.
The judge in the case found that the standard of actual malice has been met because internal emails show that CNN hated this guy and knew exactly what they were doing for clicks. They completely disregarded accountability and called Young sorts of horrible names internal communications reveal. One such internal communication revealed that they needed to “nail Young.”
The judge decided that the internal communications from the network show that their conduct was egregious enough to open the door for punitive damages.
So now they might be forced to pay $1 billion and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of state run communists pretending to be journalists.
